Introduction/specifics

The St. Marien Catholic daycare center has four groups aged 1.6 to 7 years, three of which are in the kindergarten area and one is a crèche group.

The kindergarten area is open from 6.45 am to 5.00 pm (Monday - Thursday) and 6.45 am to 2.30 pm (Friday).

The crèche group is open from 6.45 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. (Monday - Thursday) and from 6.45 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. (Friday). Childcare is also available until 2.30 pm on Fridays by prior arrangement.

Rooms

The kindergarten comprises three groups.

Children between the ages of 2.8 and 7 are looked after here

in light-flooded group rooms.

Depending on the age structure, the groups are

equipped with suitable play materials.

The gymnasium/multi-purpose room is also

regularly used by all groups.

Outdoor Facilities

The large outdoor area with swings

and other play equipment, as well as a sandpit

invites our children to play imaginatively.

Daily Schedule

The children are greeted at the door in the morning.

Once in the group, the day begins with free play time. 

This is followed by breakfast together and learning activities.

A second free play time takes place before lunch,

which is also spent in the daycare centre's garden.

Basics

The pedagogical staff plan programmes according to the children's age and stage of development. These are based on the themed areas of support from the BayKiBiG and the BEP.

Here are a few examples:

  • Religious stories and songs
  • Baking biscuits together, going out for ice cream
  • Looking at pictures and picture books
  • Finger plays, songs, poems etc.
  • Jigsaw puzzles
  • Counting exercises with the help of counting songs
  • Working and building with different materials (e.g. building blocks, natural materials)
  • Discovering and getting to know plants and animals
  • Singing songs
  • Crafting, cutting, gluing
  • Gymnastics in the gym (getting to know and using different sports equipment)
  • Shopping together followed by breakfast
  • Walks
  • Practising hygiene measures, e.g. washing hands, cleaning mouth...

Teamwork with school

The daycare centre is in regular contact with the Sprengelschule (Sophienschule for our facility) in the form of cooperation meetings: The cooperation officer is the management.

Other points of contact are

  • Participation in the school building rally, school performances
  • Participation in the school play at school enrolment. This is done by the head or deputy
  • Taster lessons before the start of school for pre-school children
  • Transition support through discussions with parents
  • Intensive discussions with the support teacher, who visits our centre three times a week
  • Joint training sessions / management - support teacher on current topics
